LG Corp. is a major South Korean "chaebol" (family-run industrial group) that maintains core businesses in electronics, chemicals, and telecommunications. Also known as LG Group, it operates through a number of wholly-owned, majority-owned, and minority-interest subsidiaries and affiliate companies in Korea and around the world. The most well-known are probably LG Electronics and LG Chem; LG Corp. holds about a one-third ownership stake in each. Electronics is its largest segment in terms of revenue, but telecom represents the growth of its future business due to partnerships with Koreas three mobile operators. The company was founded in 1947 and 12 years later produced Koreas first radio.
