Yazaki Corp. was handed down from patriarch to sons and is considered to be the worlds largest automotive wire harness (the central nervous system for vehicles) business, holding a one-third global market share. The company comprises about 170 companies; more than half are outside of Japan (including Yazaki North America) in almost 40 countries. Its lineup includes electrical cables, meter and auto instruments, gas equipment, air-conditioning, and solar-powered systems. Yazaki sells chiefly to auto makers, and, to a lesser extent, electric power, gas, and general construction companies. It ranks among the top 100 companies receiving the most US patents.
